Research Associate - Project Learning Lab

The Education department at Wrexham University has a very successful research culture and strategy and is seeking to appoint a a fixed-term Research Associate to support a specific research project funded by the Welsh Government. The project aims to exploit the synergy between Welsh Government projects and initiatives in digital learning design by using research and practice expertise alongside expert advice from international partners. Furthermore, it underpins and aligns to curriculum and wider education system-level reforms currently taking place in Wales. The aim is to help move educators in the transition from knowledge and understanding about what is, towards what could be. During 2024-25 activity will focus on continuing to provide opportunities for practitioners to devleop their understanding through a series of learning labs delivered in person / hybrid.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Wales Collaborative for Learning Design (WCLD) research project for the Welsh Government.

The research associate will support the project by;

  • Attendance at WCLD weekly project meetings via Teams.
  • Contributions and attendance at virtual learning lab events.
  • Provide guidance on current and future direction of the project.
  • Work with schools to support their development and training around the use of 360 degree cameras, green screen technology and immersive technology.

In addition the post holder will undertake data collection, liaising and  networking with a wide range of people at different levels of authority to gain cooperation  in recruiting research participants, accessing venues through interviews, accessing the use of computers. They will be responsible for using appropriate events and opportunities to network in the academic and wider community to raise the profile of the research and  increase the potential impact of the findings.
