Chief Engineering Officer
About the Role
Glyndwr Innovations Ltd (GIL) seeks an inspiring and collaborative Chief Engineer Officer to lead its engineering, research, and innovation activities.
This senior role offers the opportunity to shape GIL’s strategic direction, strengthen partnerships between academia and industry, and foster a culture of excellence. Working closely with Wrexham University and external partners, you will help deliver GIL’s mission and support Wrexham University’s Strategic Vision 2030.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across GIL’s engineering, research, and innovation functions.
- Lead applied research, technical operations, and commercial projects to achieve sustainable outcomes.
- Drive business growth through effective commercialisation and partnership development.
- Build trusted relationships with industry, academia, and government.
- Empower multidisciplinary teams to innovate and collaborate effectively.
- Strengthen links between GIL, the University, and external partners to enhance research, enterprise, and knowledge change.
About You
You are a strategic, forward-thinking engineering leader who:
- Holds a degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering and is a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
- Has substantial senior leadership experience in engineering within commercial or research settings.
- Demonstrates success in leading innovation, managing complex projects, and developing impactful partnerships.
- Communicates with clarity, empathy, and authority.
- Promotes mentoring, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre-employment screening under the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional National Security Vetting (NSV) requirements may apply, including eligibility for Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
