Psychology Technician
0.6 FTE - 22.2 hours a week

We seek to appoint a Psychology Technician to support our teaching and research activities. The main responsibilities of the role include: working with academic staff, with other technical staff and with students to identify, set up and maintain equipment; supporting student and staff research; supporting practical classes and assignments; demonstrating equipment and training staff or students; liaising with internal and external contacts.
The suitable candidate will already have experience of working in a psychology lab or similar environment and will be keen to develop new skills and willing to contribute to the growth of the department. The post requires a minimum of a HNC level technical qualification in a relevant area, or equivalent experience including an undergraduate training in Psychology or a related area.
Many of the studies running in Psychology rely on specialised computer packages so familiarity with similar programs and other data handling systems would be useful. Familiarity with the use of social networking sites for managing the student interface and Virtual Learning Environments for supplementing student support would also be welcome. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential.
Successful applicants will be a member of the British Psychological Society. Experience working within the Higher Education sector would be an advantage.
The role is varied and challenging, so you will need to be a highly self-motivated individual who is able to work flexibly and to tight deadlines, both autonomously and as part of a team. You will have outstanding communication and organisational skills and an eye for detail.
